Amplifybio is a newly established, commercially focused preclinical CRO that was created as a Battelle spin-off. Amplifybio is currently looking to hire a Manager of Laboratory Animal Resources to join our growing team!!!

The Manager of Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) develops and implements LAR programs and directs the operations of the LAR staff to ensure that projects are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations, client requirements, and AmplifyBio policies.

What You’ll do Here:

  • Lead a team of LAR Supervisors and Technicians to support coordination of Amplifybio projects and studies including scheduling workflows, ensuring appropriate staff training, creating, and distributing project/study-related documents, providing hands-on support of staff, etc.
  • Develop technical methodologies and provide guidance/training/mentoring to staff as well as the development, optimization, implementation, and standardization of best practices in compliances with federal, state and city animal welfare and safety regulations, as well as internal Amplifybio SOPs and policies. 
  • Plan and develop projects including the selection of appropriate project staff from available resources. Establish, monitor, and control scheduling.
  • Ensure completion of studies and projects within time and budget constraints alongside data accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure the integrity of staff training programs and matrices are sufficient to meet the needs of the organization, department, and study/project; ensure staff are appropriately trained and all documentation is maintained/updated.
  • Communicate study and project status/results to internal stakeholders, clients, and management.
  • Aid in the drafting and development of departmental forecasting, plans, budgets, and performance reports.
  • Assist management in evaluating the technical performance of other staff.
  • Identify needs for specialized facilities to support technical areas and assist management in planning to meet these needs; provide strategic direction for identifying new capabilities and research areas to expand customer base and new business.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations, goal setting and evaluation, hiring, training, resourcing, and salary planning for personnel.
  • Write and contribute to proposals, present briefings to internal stakeholders and clients, manage schedule, and budget on studies.
  • Accountable and responsible for promoting Amplifybio’s Safety and Quality Programs and Culture.

We Would Love to Hear from You If:

  • Minimum BS/BA degree in a life science related program with biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in research and laboratory animal sciences.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing personnel and/or leading teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of care procedures and management of laboratory animal species.
  • Experience with relevant regulations and quality standards including US FDA/EPA GLPs.
  • Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office and relational databases and software.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead others toward the accomplishment of individual and shared objectives including experience in planning, prioritizing, and assigning work, training staff, and monitoring their daily performance.
  • Training experience; proficient and competent in all areas of research and handling techniques for small and large animals; able to teach these various techniques to others.
  • Have flexibility in accommodating different work schedules (weekend rotations / after hours and holidays) and sharing responsibility with the other staff in providing 24/7 coverage.
