AmplifyBio is seeking a PCR Scientist to join our growing team! The PCR Scientist is responsible for the regulatory and scientific conduct of method development and validation for gene and cell therapy. Perform troubleshooting on multiple analytical instrumentation and detection techniques (qPCR, ddPCR, and dPCR), calculate and interpret data, and record data in adherence with SOPs and any additional requirements specific to the lab and/or client. Routinely act as the technical project leader for multiple projects, interact with clients on a weekly basis (or as needed) to provide updates, review and evaluate data, write reports and protocols. 

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Independently performs analytical testing, method development/optimization/validation, and/or other specialty technologies studies and method transfers for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds in a variety of formulations and delivery systems. Understands and conforms to methods, and protocols applicable to assigned tasks. Designs and executes experiments independently. 
  • Prepares, reviews and critiques study protocols, project status reports, final study reports and other project-related technical documents. 
  • Communicates data and technical issues to clients on a weekly basis (or as needed). 
  • Provides technical guidance and training to staff. 
  • Leads analytical (procedural and instrumental) troubleshooting sessions. 
  • Prepares and implements SOPs and quality systems. 
  • Reviews, interprets, and analyzes data for technical, quality and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Performs self and peer review of the data for accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements prior to submission to QA and issuance to customers.

We Would Love to Hear From You If:

  • Doctoral degree in Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Genetics, or related field with 0-2 years of related work experience, OR 
  • Master’s degree with minimum 3-5 years hands on bench experience conducting RT-qPCR, qPCR, Digital Droplet PCR, Digital PCR, or Next Generation Sequencing platforms and Molecular Biology experiments. 
  • Experience with DNA/RNA extractions and tissue processing of complex samples (i.e., not solely pure culture)  
  • Quality management experience (GLP) 
  • Adherence to all laboratory safety requirements 
  • Ability to work in a BSL-2 research laboratory environment which includes periods of bench-work, working in a bio-safety cabinet, and ability to wear respiratory protection 
  • Schedule flexibility sufficient to accommodate occasional non-standard work hours 
  • Must be willing to be immunized with licensed and FDA approved vaccines and medications recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposures.
